Final evalutation
The theme that I have chosen is Evidence out of the other 4 themes which were; Evidence, weather, photomontage and creative use of light. The reason I chose Evidence is because there is a range of different types of images and loads of different ideas that come from this theme. Alongside me thinking it would be a fairly easy theme to do, it is not as easy as I thought because you must base your ideas on a photographer/artist rather then just basing your on ideas that you have made up yourself.
From the start of this Unit I had to think about the different types of pictures that I would be taking like whether I am going to take pictures of objects or take pictures round different places or even even taking abstract pictures. Before figuring out what my final outcome would be I practiced taking pictures of all different things and figuring out what worked out well and what didn't. I have looked are various photographers such as Richard Billingham, his pictures are fantastic and are so interesting! He has taken lots of pictures of his family who are alcoholics and his pets, it's inspiring for him to show the world what his family are like and seeing his life from a different perspective to how you would really think his life would be. I looked at other photographers like Jim Golden who is an award-winning photographer who specialising in still life and products. Another photographer was Joseph Cornell, Sophie Calle and Tracy Emin. Researching all these photographers helped me get though to what I really wanted to do with the theme that I chose and the way I should take pictures, thinking about the different viewpoints and composition's etc.
I went out and experimented with taking some pictures around the area I lived in, taking pictures of a range of different objects and things that are left laying around on the floor. I used a Cannon Camera from school to take my pictures with, I experimented by taking loads of different sets of pictures around my house trying out different things like taking pictures in the process of cooking pasta taking picture of the oven and the gas and hobs and as the sauce pan boils. I took pictures around my room showing evidence of me previously waking up out of my bed, taking pictures around my room, close ups of my bed sheets and windows etc. I also started taking pictures at home after me and my family have eaten dinner, I took pictures off the cutlery, plates and the left overs. These set of images turned out quite successful, the lighting perfect and the different colours in the picture really contrasted. For my final set of pictures I came up with the idea of using objects of things that are meaningful to me and my Mum as she passed away, I collected shoes, pictures, corset (her favourite clothing), a neckless locket with a picture with me and her suck inside and also flowers that was made for her funeral which where in the shape of a show used by wire to create the shape. These flowers mean so much to me and been kept in my room for around 4 years now, the flowers have died and parts of the shoe have fallen apart but some still remain. It had taken me a long time to decide what I really wanted to do for my final piece, I had to try out a range of different ideas until I came up with what I wanted to finally stick with for my final prep.
When coming up with new ideas for my project I make sure that I keep note of it, when finding artists/photographers that inspire me I put information and images onto my website so that I remember. Whether or not I find new artists/photographers that inspire me having information on my website in the process of my journey to my last decision of my final piece it shows what I've previously been looking at before hand giving me them extra marks. Throughout this time I have had some strengths and weaknesses, one strength is that I've gathered all the information that I need and got everything on my website which has guided me though my final piece. A weakness would be that I have used natural effects, when uploading the pictures I have taken normally I would edit them, contrasting the photos improving them even more then they are.
I am very happy with my final pieces, I feel they worked out very well and I'm glad even that I had an outcome of more final pieces then I was planning on actually doing in the first place. I've gathered all the information that I needed and used the right resources.
